Over 60 women coming from 19 countries have so far participated in Telecentre Academy’s “Women, Entrepreneurship and ICTs” course. Half of these women were enrolled in the recently concluded Spanish edition of the course which kicked off last June 23, while the other half are currently taking the English edition which officially started last July 28.
“Women, Entrepreneurship and ICTs” is a fully online eight-week course that provides participants with the practical ideas, skills and resources needed to launch and grow their business. It is delivered through TCA’s online learning platform, with a dedicated group of facilitators providing quality mentoring and support to enable participants to take full advantage of the course content and resources. An essential and unique component of the course is the development of individual business plans with input from both mentors and peers.
In the next few months, TCA hopes to make the course available in multiple languages. At the moment, it is already developing the French version of the course.
TCA is the capacity building arm of Telecentre.org Foundation. Its major partners in the development of the curriculum and the delivery and implementation of the course include the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Esplai Foundation and Microsoft.
