Success Stories from our E-learning Programmes

I am among Rwandans who got the opportunity to learn on udemy platform offered and sponsored by Commonwealth of Learning. This opportunity found me when I was selfemployed at my shop providing digital and online related services. As someone who completed secondary school in 2008 and did not get a chance to join University, I was very eager to learn courses on udemy as part of scaffolding my skills. Before learning courses on udemy, especially the courses entitled TOTAL: COMPTIAA+ CERTIFICATION (220-1001), COMPTIAA+ (220-1002) TEST PREP, EXAMS AND SIMULATIONS and COMPLETE NETWORKING FUNDAMENTALS COURSE, I used to call for a support when my computers broke down but now days, I am able to solve computer problems and this reduced the expenses I used to spend on technicians. In addition, before learning through Online courses of Udemy, I had no idea how to install and configure internet of routers in my computers but today, I do it very well and I also connect routers in computers and printers with wireless, Skills in udemy courses helped me to increase my revenue because of the above courses especially NETWORKING FUNDAMENTALS. Today my customers increased and I am even giving back to my community by training youth, women and peoples with disability equipping them with digital literacy skills because these skills help us to change our life better than who we are. I am very thankful to Rwanda Telecentre Network, Commonwealth of Learning and udemy platform. I would like to end my success story by encouraging others to embrace this opportunity because I am very sure they will learn a lot! Thanks a lot.

I moved to Rwanda, Kigali from Ghana in 2019 to join Andela, a software engineering company that provides distributed engineering teams to companies both internationally and locally. As a self-taught software engineer with an Environmental Horticulture background, It is important to keep educating myself in with fundamentals of computer science. Through the Rwanda Telecentre Network, the Commonwealth of Learning provided access to educational materials via the Udemy platform. This is access I couldn’t afford under normal circumstances. The Commonwealth of Learning has given me the opportunity to rid my self of a phenomenon popularly known as the imposter syndrome. Today I have completed 3 courses on software engineering and enrolled in 10 courses within the same domain. I am much more confident in my skills now. My sincerest gratitude goes to the Rwanda Telecentre Network, the Commonwealth of Learning and Udemy for this linked opportunity. Thank you!
I am a full-stack software engineer and a student at Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA). I began utilizing Udemy to take software engineering web courses after Rwanda went on full lock-down because of the worldwide pandemic Covid-19; Because of the lockdown classes at my university are canceled and yet I didn’t quit preparing myself or in any event, working. So I began taking the online courses accessible on Udemy. These online courses were of incredible assistance to me as I took in a ton of skills and procured a great number of lessons from them. Currently, I have competed three on software engineering courses and I unrolled in 7 lessons. After getting information on Rwanda Telecentre Network, the Commonwealth of learning provided access to educational materials via the Udemy platform and the amount it can help different students in a similar circumstance as me, I attempted my best to get the news to several students that would utilize these courses as I could. I reached out to more than a hundred students such as myself and got them to begin utilizing Udemy as it ended up being exceptionally valuable. Thanks to The Commonwealth of learning, Rwanda Telecentre Network, and Udemy for this opportunity that helping us ton our skills.
