Iteme

In a bid to improve convenience and efficiency in access to digital services, RTN has developed iteme platform and put it live in 2022. Iteme platform serves as a single window for agents to distribute different digital services to citizens using one single e-wallet. Ultimately, Iteme platform helps in the realization of RTN’s ambition to avail “one stop shops” for digital services in every village of Rwanda while enhancing the last mile customer journey as well as being an enabler for achieving Rwandas development and poverty reduction objectives. With iteme, RTN has integrated and continues to integrate with different service providers like financial service providers, insurance companies, telecommunication companies and many more.

The target customers for services distributed by iteme agents are citizens who don‘t access digital content themselves, for either the lack of device, connectivity, digital literacy or confidence, or who prefer being assisted by an agent for any other reason. They find iteme agents close to where they live or work, without being required to travel long distances and queue at bank branches or offices. For agents, iteme is a convenient way to grow their business, act as agent for many different service providers and by doing so earn an additional income. At the same time, they don‘t have to manage several e-wallets, credentials and communication with different service providers, super-agents or franchises.

For the service providers, iteme provides a bridge to reach out to non-digitalized customers in the whole country, without the need to build and maintain their own agent network – or provides an opportunity to grow their existing agent network. Iteme agents are distributed equally across the country, already reaching more than 90% of all sectors, with the ambition of a 100% coverage on cell level.

Iteme agents are onboarded, trained, assisted and monitored by RTN and its field staff that has many years experience in the management of agent networks. All tasks from onboarding, training to monitoring are digitally assisted through iteme platform with constantly added features that are being developed in-house and in close cooperation with our operations team, field staff and agents themselves.
